Tampere Beaches and Vicinity -Cooling off in the Inland City.
Tampere beaches are unique, since the city of Tampere is built smack between two lakes of differing heights. The Näsijärvi at the north, and Pyhäjärvi - south. A very clever building strategy, since the drastic difference in lake levels permits an ideal location of an electric-power-generator in. Hence...Power for the city, and...

...somewhat lower terrain seen at these Tampere beaches in Pyynikki near the Scandic Rosendahl hotel.
Get there by walking
toward the water from the hotel, and you will hit em.
Directions: Getting to these Tampere beaches in Pyynikki from the
center of Tampere by bus. -A 10 minutes drive. At the central square

parking lot for free parking.
A Beach for Swimming Swimmers Laps
The beach contains coarse grain sand and sticks to your feet less than
finer beach sand does. For adults swimmers too.
This particular beach is for serious
swimmers. Tomi is wading in the water waving -"here I am"!

Water temperatures...Cool!! Tomi dips into the water shrieking. "It's Cooold daddy." So it was a short dip for him. Tomi and I walk to our next beach.
A five minutes walk brings us to our next beach.
Tampere beaches with beach volleyball and scenic rocks.
You could probably enjoy these Tampere beaches year round.
During the warm season: Yep, people go there. Take a
refreshing brisk walk, while snow is on the ground.

Beach sand
with two types of sands
This
beach has a volleyball court, fine sand, similar to East Coast north
American beaches. A stretch of 20 meters of grainy type sand.
Fine sand at the Pyynikki beach
Compared to our 'swimmer beach,' this beach is exposed to more sunlight so water temperatures are...Ahhh..warm.
While on the topic of sand, let's walk toward the waters edge.
The sand near the water

About to enter into the water.
The sand on this beach is nice to play with!
Digging his fingers into soft sand, ready to get into warm water. Very small swells. On a windy day,
perhaps you could surf.
The beach strand - And, In the distance to the right
--a rocky exploring ground.
Pyynikki beach strand in Tampere
You can walk 40 to 50 meters out into the water, until the water is 'up-to-your-neck.' Great for kids, or folks who would rather wade. Tomi -left.
It is "Father's and
Son's" time to explore a tiny Finnish island

So we leave our warm beach
water and head over to our rocky exploring ground.
A bridge connects us from the beach area main land to a small rounded
island.
We are on Jalkasaarentie or
Jalkasaari
road heading toward Jalkasaari
foot
island
!!--Thinking about a picnic. Hey, why not bring a portable grill --!!
A nice place to take your family since there are large
rocks stretching out to the water. And you can tell your
grandson one day. You visited a one-man Finnish island.
After our bridge crossing -We turn around to get a glimpse of our warm beach.

Our warm beach to the left of Tomi.
More rock exploring en-route. A walk up a rocky path toward a
set of stairs.

Over the stairs we go and discover what is above...

...Brilliant land and lakes-scapes around our Tampere beaches.

Now on to our last beach for today
Cool down at a family friendly public Ylöjärvi
beach in July.
Getting there- Super basic driving directions coming from Tampere.
By car: Ylöjärvi
is a 15 minutes drive from the center of Tampere. Driving from the
center of Tampere, use number 3 road toward direction
Vaasa.
Follow signs to Yjöjärvi. After exiting road 3, take a
right
toward the Ylöjärvi public library. You will be driving over
an
overpass. A few hundred meters after an overpass
bridge you'll notice on your right...the volleyball
courts.
Let us pan over a beachfront view.

A peaceful day. No wind, just sun, warm sand underfoot, plenty of
water. A small beach
for families and sunbathers.
...panning to the right of the previous picture, Tomi is up-to-his-neck
in water. Our friend Tuulikki is with us. -left center

Kids love water. You can wade a few meters before, after which
ahhh-- swimming
is required. This beach gets deep fast. -- Positive for
underwater explorers.
Panning to the right some more. -The other half of the same
beach.
Moving our view to the right one more time.

This Ylöjärvi beach in Finland, has 100 meters of sandy strand
containing soft/fine grain sand. Enjoy playing volleyball or soccer
nearby.
