What scenery surrounds the two storey Sastamala smoke sauna?

Viewing lake Rautavesi,Blue sky, some clouds. Long dock going out to a platform leading to the water's edge. The lake surrounding the Sastamala smoke sauna.

First we come face to face with Lake Rautavesi(Iron water), where you will be dipping into, after, and before(optional but refreshing) you use the Sastamala smoke sauna.

Large flat stepping stones gently and gradually lead you to the waters edge.Take a closer look...

Finnish woodshed about 4 by 4 meters with a path of tiled wood squares running up to the shed.Next to the shed is a solid wood outside table for seating and eating. After you take a dip in the water, and the weather is not too cold, sit on these outdoor benches, and have a snack. The host can provide food or special snacks for the palate. And he would be glad to.If it is a bit nippy then why not serve tea to everyone?

Side view of a Finnish smoke sauna in Sastamala,Finland near Vammala. Faded gray wood gives the sauna that old look.Nine people can comfortably use this smoke sauna at one time. Outside faded gray wood timbers give the sauna that special ruggedy, woodsy, outdoor look.

Notice the upper level where there are burnt marks. This shows where large amounts of smoke has collected. Of course since this is a two-story smoke sauna the upper half collects the most heat.

Looking from the outside at the entrance of Sastamala's smoke sauna. The smoke sauna entrance's is around 5 feet tall. The sauna entrance is smaller than a standard size door. This helps keep the heat in and get's the smoke out.Take a closer look...

To the right of the entrance of Sastamala's smoke sauna are long 15 foot benches.

Just in case the weather is not good,to the right of the sauna entrance,(previous picture)are long benches for sitting,to cool off. Plenty of hangers to hang towels on,and a small table for drinks.

We step into this smoke sauna!

The Sastamala smoke sauna stove in huge.4,5 feet square and taller than a humanThe stove of this smoke sauna is located smack in the middle of the smoke sauna. The stove is built of classic orange brick, with iron stove doors for feeding it the fire. And does it ever take allot of wood to get this sauna to par temperature. The results are worth the man hours put into getting this smoke sauna ready.

Ground floor. As you walk into the sauna ,to the right of the sauna stove, you notice a window on the left. There are benches surrounding the sauna stove,in pairs and singles. Once you get back into the sauna you can relax by sitting on these ground floor benches or use the outdoor ones.

The Sastamala smoke sauna window opposite the other. Tin buckets for bathing are on a bench near the window. The two windows give the ground floor of the sauna enough light to see yourself as you are washing off and yet a dark room type of atmosphere.

Same sauna ladles and buckets for washing which are near the stairs going up.Just a shot at another angle closer to the window.

Now we will go up the stairs. It will be dark.

You made it to the second floor and are inside the smoke sauna's sauna room, where you will be having the sauna.
Just imagine you are in a black room, the benches you sit on even look black. But no worries, they are not sooty. The following two pictures are taken inside the sauna, looking out toward the outside.
The second floor sauna room has two openings, each about 1,5 x 1,5 ft. In each side of this dark room
(with great view of two of the most important features in this smoke sauna.) First opening is the bathroom WC, or outhouse.

Now turn around 180 degrees from this opening and you see a view of the other opening looking out at the other leisure building. A view of the changing, lounge and dining area.(cottage)
