Tampere, Finland is a sought after vacation city. When hotels in Tampere city are booked, stay at Hotel Waltikka which is a 35 minutes drive from Tampere city center. Waltikka is 20 minutes drive from the Ideapark shopping center

We paid 75 Euros, for a double bed. Very reasonable. There are large rooms available for families. Go on a weekend or during the summer and you will get a family discount. Ask for company deals--Hotel Waltikka is willing to give discounted rates for large groups of over 15 persons. In summer the second night is cheaper.

On a Friday night we ordered a warm chicken salad. At this largest hotel near Tampere, half hours drive from Tampere center. The dining atmosphere is amazingly quiet and peaceful, with a wide choice of foods on the menu.

You will see:

Free wireless inter net available throughout the hotel

Long hallways on each floor, help keep noise levels at a minimum

We slept like babies on this bed

A good night's sleep on this queen size bed. And virtually noise free during the night

Showers and bathrooms are large and clean. Water pressure coming from the shower head is strong making shower taking a joy.

A hotel suite with a bedroom and a separate large living area/room. A bit like a junior suite. Plus a 32 inch cable TV. Other rooms at Walktikka also have 32 inch TV's.

Use the mini bar for snacking, instead of eating small meals at the restaurant--It may be cheaper.

If you are traveling with a family and want an evening snack. Check the mini bar prices before eating smaller meals at the hotel, the mini bar may be more economical.

We got to enjoy our coffee. A relaxing breakfast. If you arrive at breakfast late! No worries! We discovered, they keep the food on the tables, No big rush to eat breakfast in one gulp.

Plenty of room for meeting/conferencing joy.

Large Conference Room

Fit up to 180 people in a large; or 6 smaller conference rooms. Theres a wall/data projector, dvd players, overhead projectors and white boards for your conferencing needs.

Valkeakoski indoor swimming pool sauna After taking a shower go into the sauna for a few minutes to get warm, or hot. The hotter you get the more refreshing the first-time dip will feel. Another quick shower off, then go into the swimming pool If you get cold while swimming just go back into the sauna to warm up. Some great saunas are at public swimming pools like this. They are designed for all ages.There are two saunas on the mens side. Both are the same size, showers are close by.

Finland Family vacation ideas

See the famous works of the famous Finnish sculptor Emil Wikström. He did the famous Helsinki Railway Station statue.

During the summer spend a day or two visiting some immaculate forest paths. These are great for just getting out and walking in Finnish nature.

Mettivuori at the Korkeakangas area 1 km in length. Pappilanniemi in Sääksmäki is 1.5 km in length. The Rapola Ridge Nature and Historic Path is 1.6 km in length.

A children´s adventure park is open every day from May to the end of October.

Located next to the swimming pool Nearby the children's traffic park (liikenepuisto) is a great place for children to learn about real traffic laws by practicing with pedal cars and bicycles.
