Among the cafes in Tampere, by far, the one with the best view of city.
Located one and a half kilometers from the city of Tampere by lake Näsijärvi, Seattle's "Space Needle" look-a-like. "Näsinneula" is a popular site to see during your vacation in Finland
We know that vacation time can consume the pocketbook, but getting up to the tallest observation tower in Scandinavia is not too expensive, and it pays to visit during....
...the warm season
Brrrrrr...or when it is cold in Finland.
Visit the Näsinneula cafe, not the restaurant - unless you want to spend 30-100 euros per person. Having some coffee and ice-cream at most cafes in Tampere fits the budget. And visit Näsinneula on a clear day, while you are enjoying Särkänniemi Amusement Park.
On a clear day 130 meters above ground level, enjoy a beathtaking 360 degree view, and viewing range of up to 21 kilometers of...

Siilinkaari -a very small island you can view toward the northeast. You need to have a zoom on your camera to get a picture or use observtion equipment on the deck or rent binoculars.

Siilinkaari island -a site for the family to see during the warm or cold season. In 1906 they built a sectoral light beacon on Siilinkaari. The light beacon does not shine light the same way in all directions.
Finnish cafes in Tampere at Näsinneula
-Espresso in an elegant cup

We went up there to see the great Finnish landscape and rooftops of Tampere. Enjoying an espresso, with some tasty ice-cream - a refreshing treat.
The food at Näsinneula is truly the best of gourmet food created by award-winning Finnish chefs.

Check tomorrow's weather forecast
Once you got back down from the tower and are curious what tomorrow's weather forecast will be:
Walk away from the tower at least 100 meters.
Look above the restaurant level at about 15 meters you will see lights. These light are indicators. Here is what the colors mean:
Three yellow lights = clear skies : Two yellow lights = overcast or cloudy skies : One yellow light = occasional rain : Three green lights = rain
Check with Särkänniemi web-pages for opening times throughout the year, since it changes from month to month.
Admission to Näsinneula tower cost 8 euros for adults. This gives you access to the Adventure Park and Sara Hilden Art Museum if you buy it at the Särkänniemi Amusement Park entry.
In 2001 Aura, Tomi and I got in for a lot less, if you just want to go up to the tower and go have a coffee. Scout around the area. Perhaps there are cheaper ways up to the tower.
You can view events from a long distance, like a waterspout spotted in 2008. The wind can be very harsh up there, and has only moved the tower back and forth maximum 20 centimeters. The record so far.
Näsinneula is worth a visit for at least one hour. No worries, you are safe because...Näsinneula is built on a huge rock, using poured reinforced concrete, so there is lots of steel in the structure.
In case of any electrical blackout, a diesel generator takes over and in emergencies you can use the 700+ stairs to come down.
The fastest public Finnish elevator carries maximum 15 people at a speed of 6 m/s. (20 ft/s) to the top quickly. Cheap thrills rather than going on the rides in Särkäniemi.
...on the "must visit" list is this great cafe which we visit again and again. The 'waffle cafe' offers great waffles, with a pleasant atmosphere for a good price.
If you are up to driving an hour into the countryside, from the center of Tampere, it is worth visiting the following two cafes in Vammala
