Finnish Saunas with a winter/summer outdoor spa. Overnight in a "wartime like underground bunker" or have a 'Bed and Breakfast.'
Herrasmanni: Herrasmannintie 56, 21450 Tarvasjoki, Finland.
Finnish Saunas in a historical Finnish neighborood.
In 1316, when Sweden and Finland were ruled by the same King, one of the King's helpers lived in a castle in Turku. In an official document there is a statement about this helper selling land. Today that land is where Herrasmanni is located.
In 2016 Herrasmanni celebrates its 700 year birthday with a grand party.
Celebrate a wedding right next to a road the Vikings used to travel on. Cook up tasty sea-salted fresh salmon on an underground oven over an an open fire. Experience the unique soft steam of a Dugout (korsu) sauna, and slow-penetrating steam of a Soap-Stone burner sauna.

Tarvasjoki Finnish Saunas -Smoke sauna This 'embedded-into-the-earth' 'Smoke Sauna' has no chimney. Ventilation during start-up is important. As the Herrasmanni smoke sauna warms up, smoke coming from the wood-burning stove fills the log cabin, and traps itself inside the sauna.
The smoke sauna's inside temperature rocks at 120 Celcius, hotter than electric saunas. The fire dies down, and the smoke inside the sauna is let out. Stove heat is sufficient enough to give off great sauna steam for hours. No need to add wood to this sauna after you go in.
The smoke sauna's heat is gentle. As you're pouring steam onto the stove, The heat, (though high) does not come crashing down on you like in an electric sauna's heat does. Hence, the smoke sauna is far more preferred by Finnish insiders.
Inside this sauna there are movable stools for seating rather than stationary benches. Since each person's body responds differently to heat waves, changing seating is easy in this sauna. The sauna seats 15 people.
Step out of the smoke sauna and turn to the left, walk straight 25-30 feet where you find a 'barrel like' hot tub.
The 'barrel-shaped' hot tub heated to 36 Celcius and right next to it is a white freezer box. The freezer's water temperature is at 4 Celcius. To the side you notice an outdoor shower. Outdoor shower water temperature is around 23 Celcius.
Notice the freezer behind the barrel spa!

Refer to your guide on how to use the sauna with the cold (freezer) and warm tubs to get the best possible experience...
...or follow Heikki's recommendation:
- Shower off and go into the smoke sauna. Get as warm as you can,
- take a shower,
- go into either the warm barrel or the cold freezer
- and finally back into the sauna or wait to cool off outside
Finnish Saunas in Tarvasjoki, Finland are more than just any Sauna attraction in Finland.
Esa and his family came up with the name "Otsolinna." Which means: "Bear Castle." When you first go into the underground fireplace, it looks like an enlarged bear's den. Yes, you can sleep in a huge bear's den while having your vacation in Finland.
Though recommended for 50 people, 70 people can fit here. 20 people can fit at the table. This is where they cook up the famous and tastiest sea-salted salmon in Finland. Companies like Marli, Leaf and Nokia discovered that.Outside the underground fireplace. Top mini-roof lets smoke out from the large roof.

Salmon... is pinned up on a board with wooden nails. The pinned up fish-on-board is propped up near the flames and roasted.
Esa's 10 second "Rule-of-Thumb"
As the salmon bakes against open flames, you should be able to keep your fingers between the fish and fire for 10 seconds. If not, move the fish further away. Esa uses sea-salt to gently massage into the fish. Thereby whitening the fish.
Some Cognac please!
When the pinned up salmon is browned, using the 10 second rule, Esa pours cognac over the fish and lights it. Woof. The Fish really soaks up the flavor of the cognac. The cognac adds that extra unique taste, slightly driving out the smokey taste. Terrific tasting salmon.
And now. To complete your stay in Herrasmanni at these great Finnish Saunas in Tarvasjoki, Finland...
You are invited to have a 'vuolukivi' or, soap-stone' sauna experience inside the main building, downstairs. The best steam of all Finnish saunas Inside the sauna is a soap-stone sauna stove. The steam of a 'soap-stone' stove puts out higher quantities of steam than a traditional electric burner.
Electrical elements embedded in the stone heat up the stone. Long ports running vertically through the 'soap-stone' terminate at the top (where you pour the water) into 1.2 inch openings. Upon pouring water onto the stove, water goes into the port hole's 1.2 inch openings, heats, and steam exits into the air through the same ports.

Soap-stone sauna steam is gentle and soft. Pouring larger quantities of water onto the burner, causes less shock to the body after a heat wave hits. And compared to standard electric sauna, heat has less of a suffocating effect. What are you waiting for?
Go ahead and pour water on and enjoy the steam where you find a smoke sauna and a smaller soap-stone sauna. These Finnish Saunas in Tarvasjoki, provide you with two types of sauna experiences.
